Caernarfon and Dwyfor Ramblers

About Us

We organise a full programme of walks throughout the year across a wide area of the county of Gwynedd. The walks vary in distance from 3 miles to 12 miles, and difficulty from easy to strenuous.

The walks programme page has details about each walk and gives a good indication of the difficulty of each walk. The emphasis of our walks is not to get from start to finish in as short a time as possible but to have a great day out, and to enjoy the beauty of the Welsh countryside regardless of whether the sun shines or the occasional rain shower. We all go at our own different pace, but we have regular breaks to regroup and rest. We want our walks to be an enjoyable experience for everyone who attends them.

Our group has some 160 members and we are one of some 500 groups of Ramblers across the whole of the United Kingdom of which there are twelve groups in North Wales. Members of the Ramblers are able to walk with any of the area groups. The links page contains links to each of the other North Wales groups' sites.

New Members

We most definitely welcome new people to our group. If you are not too sure if you want to become a member we don't ask you to join straight away. Whether you are an experienced walker or not, you are welcome to join us in our walks for a brief introductory period to help you make a decision about joining. Our walks programme has a variety of distances and difficulty so you can always start out on a leisurely stroll if you wish. After a period of two or three walks with us if you wish to continue you will be asked to enrol as a member of the Ramblers.

As well as access to all the walks, membership of the Ramblers offer the following benefits:

  • A quarterly magazine packed with gear and book reviews, stunning photography and exciting features by renowned writers.
  • Walk Britain (rrp: £5.99) - The annual handbook including maps, photographs, contact details and accommodation listings, many of which are discounted.
  • Discretionary discounts - Save money on clothing and gear at many outdoor stores including many local independent stores, including 10% off at Millets, Blacks and Rohan. Local discounts are available from Gelert.
  • Access to the Ramblers map library - The chance to borrow from the Ramblers extensive Ordnance Survey map collection, for a very small fee.
