Caernarfon & Dwyfor Group and
The Ramblers

The C&D group is made up of members of the Ramblers who live in Gwynedd, North Wales, in the area west of Bangor and north of Porthmadog – one of the nicest parts of the UK.  Many members of the group take part in our walks and activities, while others who prefer to walk alone or with family and friends join to support the work of the Ramblers.

Those who do join in the group walks and activities soon find that they have new friends and contacts in Gwynedd and all over North Wales, for as well as walking with our group, members can take part in any of the walks arranged by Rambler groups, of which there are around five hundred in the Britain, with twelve in North Wales.

All the walks are published on line, and in addition twice a year the North Wales Area publishes a booklet detailing all walks taking place in North Wales for the next six months.  As well as dates, times and venues the information includes the length of each walk and an idea of the type of walk it will be, from an easy stroll to a challenging mountain ascent.  We have a team of voluntary leaders, and owe them our thanks for providing a range of walks to suit all abilities. Whatever the walk, the aim is always for enjoyment.

The Ramblers have been in existence for over eighty years and in that time have successfully led campaigns benefitting all walkers in the UK.  The paths, open access and freedom to roam that we enjoy now owes much to the Ramblers, and in Wales this work still goes on, whether locally or through our office in Cardiff.

Among the benefits of membership of the Ramblers are discounts in many outdoor shops and a quarterly magazine, Walk.  This is a high quality magazine covering anything to do with walking, from best gear reviews to walks in Britain and beyond.

However, new members walking with our group often sum up the benefits in just a few words  – discovering new paths and making new friends.
