Weekend in the Peak District

Weekend in the Peak District

At Cliff College, near Calver Derbyshire.

The Group Committee have been planning this week end away for some time. There were some difficult decisions to make. Where – How long – How much? Cliff College is a Methodist Training College, so it is student style accommodation. The college has been very flexible and has given over a whole ground floor to us. There is one double room and one single room. Three bedrooms have six modern bunk beds, which can be folded up and used as singles, unless we have a full complement of twenty one. There is a shared kitchen for us all, with a fridge - cooker - crockery.

There are three possible prices, per person per day.

  • £20.30 for Bed and make your own Breakfast.
  • £24.75 for Bed and Continental Breakfast.
  • £26.92 for Bed and full Breakfast.

Walks are planned for Friday afternoon on arrival – Saturday a full day – Sunday a morning walk, before travelling home to Wales. A parallel programme of strenuous and less strenuous walks is planned, or an opportunity to go sight seeing in the local area. A subcommittee of Chris Hattersley, John Hammond and Ian Nellist are travelling to Derbyshire in June to recce the walks and the pubs for the evening meal. Cliff College provides evening meals at £6.78.

Please fill in the Booking Form inserted in this Newsletter with your full payment. Availability will be on a first come first served basis. Remember the Bardsey Island trip was rapidly booked out, just by word of mouth. Please don’t miss out this time – Rachel and I are booked in, plus the subcommittee, that’s five people already. There is a chance to stay an extra day or two, at the same rates, but we will be asked to change rooms, as ours are booked.
